SM- Reiki Touch Therapy

Why Reiki?Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a method of deep relaxation achieved through therapeutic touch. Reiki was developed in ancient Japanese medicine to help achieve and maintain physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well being. Reiki involves placing the therapist’s hands in specific positions and locations on the client’s body. These locations, known as the body’s energy centers (chakras), exist in and around the energy field, or aura, surrounding the human body. Each “chakra” impacts specific functions of the body and nervous system. There are seven chakras located on the human body, and many more located in the aural spaces approximately eight inches around the human body.The seven physical chakras are:Crown chakra – Located at the top of the head and slightly backwardPineal gland, brain, eyes and central nervous system; and your connection with spiritualityBrow or Third Eye chakra – Located above and between your eyesPituitary gland, brain, eyes and central nervous system; and your personal realitiesThroat chakra – Located at the base of the neckThyroid and parathyroid glands, sore throats, thyroid problems & throat conditions or dysfunctions; and your communication functionHeart chakra – Located behind the breastbone or sternumHeart Organ, Cardiovascular, Thymus Gland and emotional centerSolar Plexus chakra – Located below the heartPancreas gland, liver, gastrointestinal and Respiratory; food and nutrition assimilation; and the movement of energy through the body. Digestion, alcoholism and food issues.Abdominal or Belly chakra – Located a few inches below the navelKidneys, Bladder, Spleen in men, Uterus in women. Purification, sexuality, and fertility function, and healing from past abuse. Root chakra – Located directly below the belly chakraAdrenal glands. This is the place of birth and rebirth; your survival center, and affects basic issues of sustenance and wanting to live or die, and “grounding”.This ‘connection’ will balance and restore any deficits in your energy flow, resulting in personal healing of your body, mind and spirit.While you remain fully clothed, I will place my hands directly on the various chakras located on the physical body, and in the aural centers located approximately 8 inches above the physical body, from head to toe and on both the front and back of your body. Some hand positions lightly touch your body, while others are several inches above it, but are always within your personal energy field, or aura. These hand positions stimulate the energy field flowing through and around your body, release stress and tension, relieve pain, restore balance, correct deficits in your energy level, and promote physical and emotional wellness and balance. Receiving a Reiki session is a wonderful and deeply relaxing experience, beneficial for reducing stress, achieving balance, relieving pain, and increasing your personal energy levels. Reiki can also address specific health needs and issues such as migraines, fatigue, vertigo, nausea, pain, nervousness, weakness, and the inability to focus.Each Reiki session is as individual as the person receiving it. Some people experience soothing heat or a tingling sensation from the therapist’s hands. Others may see bursts of color as I move through the various chakras, or may see a general cloudiness or fogginess, or even feel a sensation of floating. People sometimes sleep during the session. Some clients do not feel or visualize any of these things during their session, but may simply feel deeply relaxed or energized.During the few days immediately following a Reiki session, you may feel a general peace or lifting of heaviness from your body and emotions, or a general sense of increased well being. You may feel stronger, more focused, or experience increased mental clarity and a feeling of being more centered.Many people choose Reiki to help with physical illness. Others choose Reiki simply for stress reduction, pain relief, and to help release negative energies and rebalance their personal energy to promote wellness and health. When the body’s energy is balanced, the body, emotions and mind are stronger and able to heal more quickly. A full Reiki session lasts approximately 60-90 minutes depending on the depth of the session and any questions or discussion before and after the session. All sessions are private and confidential, and you can feel comfortable sharing as much information with your reiki therapist as you like to help your therapist understand your needs and to help you benefit as much as possible from your session.
